I half expected this to get through, so it's not much of a surprise but I'll comment on it anyway. The Kansas School Board voted 6-4 to modify the curriculum to allow teaching of Intelligent Design in science classes.
The really sickening part however, and I would never have imagined them to be this bold ...
In addition, the board rewrote the definition of science, so that it is no longer limited to the search for natural explanations of phenomena.
That's right folks, the current definition of science was too limiting. We had to redefine the meaning of science to justify letting this through.
Next up in science class, tarot cards, astrology, and palm reading! Hey while we're at it, why don't we expand geography to include locations in the supernatural realm?! Why limit geography to just actual physical locations on the planet? Why not add Atlantis, Santa's workshop, the river Styx and the Garden of Eden to the list as well?
Oh and isn't the math curriculum far too limiting? Shouldn't we allow Numerology in the classroom? That's got something to do with numbers, right?
And Hey! Why limit history to the tight constraints of the past? Sylvia Brown can tell us what's going to happen in the future, why not teach that as History?
